A Friday Overview
My Friday consisted of a few firsts for me. I test drove a 2012 VW Beetle, tried cupcakes from Jilly's Cupcake Bar, checked out a new model car show in St louis, stayed after hours at a major bank and talked with their security staff, parked in the banks exclusive garage space, tried potstickers at TGI Friday's, and drove in East St Louis at night! The best part was spending time with the friends I was with. Not a single regret. Be preparred for an onslaught of blogs...including one about the Nerf Gun War we had at the church after the WinterJam concert!

www.findingmybetterhalf.blogspot.com
My new blog is up and running! For those following my randomness here that may be for some reason interested in following my progress in finding who it is God has for me in that circle we call love, my daily journey will be recapped on my blog titled "Finding My Better Half", because that is what we should be for each other; the one that pulls out the best in the other.
Please note: this is not a game, but a journey in finding out what it trully means to be a true friend, trully honest and trustworthy, and to put someone else's life ahead of my own on a personal level.

Intro To: Finding My Better Half
Spending the last couple of weeks really considering a direction for my blogs, it occured to me I am in the process of openning my eyes to a new side of my life: Finding the better side of me. God created us to be better with someone to share life with, and I am still in the process of finding her. Under the title of "Finding My Better Half" the journey begins. I hope to one day look back on this and have even more to thank God about!
In between will be more of my random anticks about everything else.

Allspark
As a youth pastor, I not only love ministry because of being able to teach teens about Christ, but I am also inspired by those I teach. I am thankful for those God has placed in my life!
This weekend, one of my teens opened my eyes to the true message behind Transformers. Originally, I merely thought it was a movie with no purpose other than being the coolest movie ever of special effects and insane destruction, which I was perfectly fine with, but now I can see it in a whole new light! The transformers live off of what they call the "AllSpark", a giant cube that can shrink down to pocket size of need be and is full of a vastness of energy. The Autobots and Decepticons use it's energy to survive and transform into electronic power machines they choose to mimick.
For us, our AllSpark is ignited within when we feel passionate about something, and wether that be in a negative or positive way, that spark changes our lives; you could say it transforms us. We grow, take on new characteristics, build new relationships, change appearances, because of everything we interact with in our lives. It doesnt decide for us what personality or look we take on, but the spark gives us the energy and drive to change parts of our lives.
I think that's really cool in the scope of life; makes me think a little bit more about what I put in and who I am influenced by...and humbles me to think about how I am influencing others.

Catchup
Have you ever made yourself feel overrushed because of the fear that there are so many people counting on you for something someone will be severely hurt if you miss an imaginary deadline? I've gotten so carried away with blogging recently that I've let myself get like this about how many days I've gone without posting something new. For this, I apologize.
I am so thankful for a life full of exciting mysteries led by God that I don't want anything to even come to close to replacing Him! Blog sites, Facebook, Twitter, websites, chat rooms, texting, technology in general can very easily become gods in our lives without us realising it, and weaken the foundation of relationships in away that we don't even feel the effects until after we've let the structure of it crumble to the ground. That's not to say all of these resouces are bad. I love how useful these tools are in quickly connecting with the world in ways we never thought possible! I am so thankful for the opportunities I've had to be a listening ear or a guide through someone else's struggles even when they live more than a couple states, or even countries, away from me. It's when I let those moments create the mood that all of my communication hinges on quick, inpersonal, connections rule my way of life that it becomes dangerous.
So as I find ways to better stay in touch with anyone who reads my random ramblings, wether it be through this blog, or any other source, thank you for your patience with never knowing what is about to happen in my life or when I may post something new. As we move forward, my posts may be just as random as the words that are in them.
God's Blessings!

Off the Beaten Path
Wow. I've been trying to blog everyday, Monday through Friday, but being new to this and trying to keep it up through the holidays has proven to be....well, rough. So let me go ahead and say MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO THE WORLD!!!!!! IT'S 2012 BABY!
2011 claimed its territory on being the biggest roller coaster of my life, and I'm not really sure if the car I'm riding in is close to the station yet. I started out the year working in Christian radio, signing sponsors and talking on the air as a host for an alternative music show, I even dabbled in some work as a teacher's aide before really feeling like God wanted me to take the giant leap, with no provisions, by moving closer to the teens in my youth ministry in Fairview Heights. Since the move at the beginning of the summer, I've been a sales associate for a Christian Bookstore, a Volkswagen Sales Consultant, and now I'm an Account Executive for Blue Dog. To top it off, it has all been a part of God's plan for me to discover He has been leading me to start my own nonprofit organization!
My love life has been through it all too; from engaged to dating, to single for a while, then dating again, and I just spent the holidays single for the first time in four years. God has a plan here too, I just haven't found out what that plan is yet.
I don't know why I felt like sharing all of that, but as a reminder that know matter what we are going through, God works off the beaten path. He likes to take us places we never would have thought of. I love traveling, so that really excites me!
*New Year's resolution: To have a nonprofit organization in full operation, with the idea of "reaching Judea (local community), Samaria (local country), and to the ends of the earth (serving worldwide)" as the "fabric" of its mission, by the end of the year.
