Falling Into Oncoming Traffic

"The goal of this command is love, which comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith. Some have departed from these and have turned to meaningless talk. They want to be teachers of the law, but they do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm. We know that the law is good if one uses it properly. We also know that the law is made not for the righteous but for lawbreakers and rebels, the ungodly and sinful, the unholy and irreligious, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers, for the sexually immoral, for those practicing homosexuality, for slave traders and liars and perjurers—and for whatever else is contrary to the sound doctrine that conforms to the gospel concerning the glory of the blessed God, which he entrusted to me. I thank Christ Jesus our Lord, who has given me strength, that he considered me trustworthy, appointing me to his service." (1 Timothy 1:5-12 NIV)

It's been a while since I blogged, and this scripture has put the kick back in my step.  It's such a great picture of a Godly leader who cares! We jump so quick to throw the "cast the first stone" quote out there and blame each other for being judgmental when someone shows concern for where we're slipping away from our relationship with God. If we stand by and watch as sin takes the lives of so many, it would be the same as if we did nothing to save a friend from falling into oncoming traffic or get mugged on the street. Why do we stand by and say we should have no concern for the lives of others? Why let hatred win in this world when God created us to Love one another?

It seems like all we want to do is either be condemning or stand by and say its not our problem. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." To me, that says none of us have been faultless. Maybe it comes from growing up as an American, but it seems like, when we realize we're broken, we do better when we don't push the blame around of who did it, or stand around and do nothing, but rather come together, encourage each other, and build a new life as a team, helping each other put the broken pieces behind us. I know of no other way to do that than to speak of God's Love and share what He has already told us of how we should live. He never created us and then left us to fend for ourselves, but I am so thankful for those that walk with me, so that when I begin to loose sight of this narrow road, they can point me back in the right direction!
